Clay Sculpting Workshop

🧱 Basic Clay Materials

  • Air-Dry Clay (soft, non-toxic, easy to mold; ideal for no-kiln environments)
    – Recommended: Crayola Air-Dry Clay, Amaco Marblex, or DAS modeling clay

  • (Optional) Polymer Clay (if baking is available and smaller pieces are desired)

🛠️ Clay Tools

  • Clay modeling tools (wooden or plastic): for carving, smoothing, and detailing

  • Rolling pins or thick dowels: to flatten clay evenly

  • Texture tools: stamps, stencils, leaves, lace, or burlap for imprinting designs

  • Cookie cutters or shape molds: to assist those with limited motor strength

  • Wire or plastic clay cutters (optional): for dividing clay

  • Plastic knives or butter knives (for safe sculpting details)

🖐️ Accessibility & Comfort Aids

  • Non-stick boards or placemats (silicone or wax paper): work surfaces

  • Hand wipes or moist towels: for easy cleanup

  • Aprons or smocks: to protect clothing

  • Soft sponges or damp cloths: for smoothing clay and keeping it moist

  • Lotion or hand cream: optional post-session self-care

🖼️ Decorating & Finishing (Optional)

  • Acrylic paints or tempera paints (non-toxic)

  • Paintbrushes in various sizes

  • Sealer or varnish (if desired for extra durability)

  • Permanent markers for drawing on dried surfaces

  • Beads, gems, buttons (to press into clay before it dries)

📦 Display & Take-Home Options

  • Name labels or tags for finished pieces

  • Small boxes, trays, or paper plates for transporting sculptures

  • Photo documentation (phone or tablet) for memory-keeping or a digital gallery

  • Optional table for group showcase
