Intergenerational Easy Senior Movement Workshop
Program Overview
The Easy Senior Movement Workshop is a youth-led program where high school students guide seniors through gentle, accessible exercises designed to support flexibility, balance, and overall well-being. This workshop emphasizes movement that is safe, simple, and enjoyable, helping older adults stay active while also fostering intergenerational connection.
Goals
Encourage seniors to maintain mobility, strength, and balance in a supportive environment
Promote relaxation and stress relief through gentle stretching and mindful movement
Provide high school students with opportunities to practice leadership, empathy, and community service
Strengthen bonds between generations by sharing laughter, encouragement, and teamwork
Activities
Warm Welcome & Check-In: Students greet seniors, share smiles, and ask how everyone is feeling before starting
Gentle Stretching: Simple seated or standing stretches to ease stiffness and warm up the body
Light Movement Exercises: Easy-to-follow motions such as arm circles, leg lifts, and balance practices—adapted for all ability levels
Breathing & Relaxation: Slow breathing paired with soft movements to calm the body and mind
Fun Add-Ons: Incorporating light music, rhythmic clapping, or simple games to make movement more enjoyable
Closing Circle: Group reflection, gratitude sharing, and encouragement to continue practicing small movements at home
